Traditionally, it was the Bedayuh who used a lot of seed beads to sring their traditional necklaces. The introduction of the 'tree of life' design is a touch of modern fusion to the necklace, giving it a Sarawakian identity.
Tree of life in Sarawak is associated with Orang Ulu culture. Since it comprises of many ethnic groups, the stories vary. However they all have the same essence, that all the inhabitants of the physical world came from this Tree of Life, stressing its importance in the existance of life itself. Thus, the tree is the symbols of love, friendship, and encouragement.
